REGISTRATION AND ELIGIBILITY POLICY
Purpose
- The purpose of this Policy is to govern and support the registration of athletes, officials and coaches within Ringette Canada.
Application of this Policy
- This Policy applies to all Ringette Canada’s Members, registered athletes, registered officials, registered coaches, as well as potential athletes, coaches and officials.
Registration – Domestic Play
- Members will register all athletes, officials and coaches under their jurisdiction with Ringette Canada and pay the prescribed registration fees by February 15th of the applicable playing season. These fees will be determined by the Ringette Canada Board of Directors.
- Athletes will only register with one Member at a time unless the player is an affiliate player.
Registration – International Play
- Athletes wishing to participate in international, play, must register with a Ringette Canada Member according to section 3.
Transfers and Releases
- Transfers and/or releases will be managed as per Ringette Canada Members’ Policies and Procedures.
Age Groups and Teams
- Registered athletes on female teams (comprised exclusively of female athletes) will be categorized as follows:
- Seniors – 50 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Masters – 30 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Open – 18 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U19 – Under 19 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U16 – Under 16 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season; and
- U14 – Under 14 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season.
- Registered athletes on male teams (comprised exclusively of male athletes) will be categorized as follows:
- Seniors – 50 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Masters – 30 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Open – 19 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U20 – Under 20 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U17 – Under 17 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season; and
- U15 – Under 15 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season.
- Registered athletes on Co-Ed teams (comprised of a combination of at least two gender identities) will be categorized as follows:
- Seniors – 50 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Masters – 30 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- Open – 18 years of age and over as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U19 – Under 19 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U16 – Under 16 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U14 – Under 14 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U12 – Under 12 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season;
- U10 – Under 10 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season; and
- U9 – Under 9 years of age as of December 31st of the playing season.
- Teams will be categorized as follows:
- AAA – Ringette Canada’s National Teams participating in international play
- A A – T eams eligible for the Canadian Ringette Championships
- Other categories of play as determined by the Member based on team formation demands
- The classification of teams will be as follows:
- AAA as determined by the Board
- A A as determined by the Member
- Other categories of play as determined by the Member based on team formation demands
Sanctions
- Violations of this Policy will result in discipline to the athlete and/or Member in accordance with Ringette Canada’s Discipline and Complaints Policy.
This Policy is subject to review at least once every three years

The publication of Ringette Canada policies will be in the English and French languages. In the case of conflicting interpretations, the English version will prevail.
