“I’ve been involved in ringette for 45 years. I started playing 45 years ago and then 40 years ago I started to referee. The people and places is what keeps me involved. I have met some incredible people and been to some beautiful places all around the world. I have visited every province in Canada, along with a couple of the territories. Internationally, I’ve had the opportunity to be in the USA, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia — and these trips have also given me a chance to tour in Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Germany. I even met some people in New Zealand who were involved in ringette in the late 1980’s. My favourite thing about ringette is watching our incredible game! I’ve seen many changes in the game over the years and it’s been a treat to see the development of our sport, our athletes, our officials and our coaches. I work mostly with officials and have had the pleasure of helping some of them develop into national and international level referees. I’ve watched many of our national team athletes and coaches progress from beginner play to the world stage; from snot-nosed kids to terrific adults. Ringette has always been my go to – when life is tough, when work is tough, when nothing else is going right – I can go to a game and my world is good.” – Lucie Anne Ingoldsby (Waverley, Nova Scotia)
