“My name is Rachel and I am nine years old. At my sports daycare we have A LOT of ringette players. They always talk about how amazing ringette is, so I decided I wanted to play too. I told my dad that I wanted to play and he said “but you can’t even skate!” He was right. I couldn’t skate, but I said “I’ll learn then!” I practiced all summer really, really hard and kept getting better. I just finished my first year with my team called the Storm Icicles. I play ringette because it’s fast, fun, exciting, and it’s the best sport in the world. I’ve made a whole bunch of new ringette friends, and I like to score goals and make nice passes. I also like to go to hotels when we have tournaments. My number is #28 and I am a forward.” Rachel Sherwood – (Moncton, New Brunswick)
