‘I started reffing 26 years ago. I had just started reffing hockey that year and our local referee-in-chief was calling around to everyone on my sister’s ringette team asking them if they would be interested in attending a ref clinic. I decided to go and have never looked back. My favorite thing about ringette is the speed of the game and getting to skate, a lot. I have a great appreciation for the skills of the players as well. The last number of years I have also been involved as the rulebook editor, which is also enjoyable. Ringette has allowed me to make great friends and meet new people from coast to coast. I have reffed in nine different provinces and been to four different countries with ringette, so although it means time away from my wife and five kids, I love this sport and wouldn’t trade the experiences for anything.’ – Robert Drury (Whitby, Ontario)
