CRC Day 1 – March 31, 2025

Ottawa, Ontario – March 31, 2025 – Another week of the finest ringette in Canada is officially underway. Full of wins, losses, and mascots galore – from British Columbia’s Orca to the Manitoba Bison to Nova Scotia’s lobster, the day was action-packed.

In the National Ringette League (NRL) division, the day started with a nail-biting 4-3 overtime win for the Rive-Sud Revolution over the BC Thunder, in a play-in game to determine which team would compete in Pool A. The rest of the day was no less exciting, as the Saskatchewan Heat defeat the Cambridge Turbos 7-6 in overtime, the Atlantic Attack beat the Calgary RATH 5-3, the Waterloo Wildfire beat the Nepean Ravens 6-3, and the Manitoba Herd win 5-3 over the Black Gold Rush. Then, the Saskatchewan Heat defeated the BC Thunder 4-3, the Edmonton WAM! defeated the Montreal Mission 7-4, the Cambridge Turbos defeat the Gatineau Fusion 6-4, and finally the Calgary RATH defeat Rive Sud Revolution 7-6.

Tuesday, April 1sts first of eleven NRL games is the Montreal Mission vs Atlantic Attack, 8:00 am ET at Ray Friel.

Meanwhile, in the U19 division, it’s anyones game. In Pool A, Cyclones des Quebec and Zone 2 Blaze lead with two wins. In Pool B, St. Albert Mission, Équipe Quebec, and Team Ontario all recorded points. In Pool C, Calgary Bold and Team Alberta lead. Team Onatrio’s Jenna Martin leads skaters with 11 points, recording 3 goals and 8 assists. For goaltenders, Julia Harvie of the Calgary Bold leads with a 1.000 save percentage on 35 shots.

Eastern Ontario Force vs Team New Brunswick kicks off Tuesday’s action at 8:00 am ET at Ray Friel.

After the first round of play in Pool A, Team Alberta,  Laurentides, and Calgary FUZE were triumphant in both of their games. In Pool B, Calgary Riot and Team New Brunswick top the standings, and in C is Edmonton and London Lynx. Calgary Riot’s Asia Mitchell leads skaters with nine points, tallying seven goals and two assists in two games. For the goaltenders, Cyclones de Quebecs Ellie Plourde ends day one with a save percentage of 1.00 on 19 shots.

Team PEI and Team British Columbia meet at 8:00 am ET at Richcraft SensPlex.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 1, will feature a number of diversity activations at Ray Friel arena, celebrating the theme “Power of Diversity.” 

Further ahead, on Saturday, April 5, the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada will present the new Mary May Simon Cup to the National Ringette League champion. Let the excitement begin as teams battle to claim the trophy!
