CRC Day 2 – Apr 1, 2025

Ottawa, Ontario – Apr 1, 2025 – Day two started strong and continued that way all day. The unofficial highlight was a sold-out, standing-room-only game for the U19 Eastern Ontario AA Force, who defeated the Saskatoon Blazers 4-3 after a thrilling overtime.

In the National Ringette League (NRL) division, the Montreal Mission and Atlantic Attack were first on the docket, with the Mission pulling through with a 4-2 win. Then the Waterloo Wildfire defeated the Manitoba Herd 8-7, the Edmonton WAM! beat the Rive-Sud Revolution 7-5, and the BC Thunder defeated the Cambridge Turbos 8-3. The action continued as the Nepean Ravens bested the Black Gold Rush 6-4, the Gatineau Fusion beat the Saskatchewan Heat 7-6, and the Edmonton WAM! defeated the Calgary RATH 6-4. As teams battled for placement in their pools, the Waterloo Wildfire beat the Black Gold Rush 5-2, the Rive-Sud Revolution defeated the Atlantic Attack 5-4 in a thrilling overtime, the Manitoba Herd beat the Nepean Ravens 8-2, and finally the Gatineau Fusion defeated the BC Thunder 4-1.

Wednesday, April 2nds first of seven NRL games is the Saskatchewan Heat vs the Nepean Ravens, 9:00 am ET at Richcraft SensPlex.

Meanwhile, in the U19 division, some teams are pulling ahead as we head to the final day of pool play. Leading their respective pools are the Zone 2 Blaze, Équipe Québec and St.Albert Mission, and Calgary Bold. Team Ontario’s Jenna Martin leads skaters again today with 15 points, recording 6 goals and 9 assists. Alyssa Carew of the St.Albert Mission has tallied 172 minutes played, leading all goaltenders. 

Team Manitoba vs Zone 2 Blaze kicks off Wednesday’s action at 8:15 am ET at Richcraft SensPlex.

Ahead of the last day of pool play, leaders in Pool A are Team Alberta, and Calgary. In Pool B, Team New Brunswick tops the standings, and in C is the Cyclones de Québec. Calgary Riot’s Asia Mitchell still leads skaters with 12 points, tallying nine goals and three assists in three games. Richmond Hill Lightning’s  Abrisham Derakhshan ends day two with 160 minutes played, leading all goaltenders.

Edmonton and the London Lynx meet at 8:00 am ET at Ray Friel to start the day’s games.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 2, will feature several activations at Ray Friel arena, celebrating the theme “Power of Indigenous Peoples.”
