Erica Voss announces retirement from Team Canada
Ringette Canada would like to extend our sincere gratitude and congratulations to Erica Voss (Toronto, ON) as she has announced her retirement from Team Canada. Erica has been a member of the senior national team since 2017, playing in two World Ringette Championships. She also competed in one World Ringette Championship at the junior level, winning gold in 2015.
“My heroes have always been the athletes that I have the privilege to work with and alongside. My words can’t possibly express the respect that I have for Erica and all that she has done in the sport of ringette. Erica is an athlete that always carries herself well with grace and grit. Erica is one of those people that you meet, and you know that she will push the limits to achieve her goals and be the best that she can possibly be. I am proud of Erica’s drive, her determination but most of all the human she has become. She has made me proud as a coach and a friend. I wish Erica all the best each and every day as she continues to wear the maple leaf on her chest and represent Canada.” ~ Lorrie Horne, in reflection of her time coaching Erica in 2015 as the head coach of the junior national team.
“I hope everyone, in any sport, gets to have a teammate like [Erica] Voss. Her commitment to improving herself on the ice, while pushing to improve sport behind the scenes, is unmatched. Even years after our time on Team Canada together, she inspires me to be a better athlete every day.” ~ Robyn Gillespie, friend and teammate on the 2015 junior national team.
Erica will not be leaving the high performance environment – she currently has her sights set on the 2026 Olympics as a member of the Canadian bobsleigh team!
Please join us in thanking Erica for wearing the maple leaf with pride and being an incredible role model for young ringette athletes across the country.
