Junior National Team Names 2023 Leadership Team
Calgary, AB–At their August training camp, the Junior National Team (JNT) selected its Leadership Team for the 2023 World Ringette Championships.
Erin Ung, Captain
Ung, from Calgary, AB, was the recipient of the NRL’s Rookie of the Year for the 2022-23 season, awarded to the most outstanding player in their first year of NRL competition. A member of the Calgary RATH, she was also the Team Alberta flagbearer for the 2023 Canada Winter Games Opening Ceremonies.
A member of the 2022 silver-medal winning JNT, Ung is a member of the South Calgary Ringette Association, and currently attends the University of Calgary studying biological sciences. She’s played ringette for 15 years, and was a first line All-Star at the 2022 U19 Canadian Ringette Championships.
Regan Meier, Assistant Captain
Meier, from Calgary, AB, is a member of the Calgary U19AA Rise team, and won a silver medal with Team Alberta at the 2023 Canada Winter Games. Meier was also a member of the 2022 silver-medal JNT that competed in Espoo, Finland.
Meier began her ringette career with the South Calgary Ringette Association, and is a neuroscience student at the University of Calgary. At the 2023 Canadian Ringette Championships, the centre was named to the first line offence on the U19 All-Star team. Meier has been playing ringette for 14 years, and was inspired to begin playing after seeing her aunt and older sister play.
Danika Osborne, Assistant Captain
Osborne, who hails from Ottawa, ON, is a member of the NRL’s Gatineau Fusion and recently competed at the 2023 Canada Winter Games with Team Ontario. Osborne got her ringette start with the Gloucester-Cumberland Ringette Association.
The defender is making her Junior National Team international debut at the 2023 World Ringette Championships. Osborne has played ringette for 15 years, and was the 2022 Player of the Year at the Ontario Provincial Championship.
