Mom’s Got Game @ the 2024 CRC
It’s no secret that ringette is a female-dominated sport – in fact, one of Sam Jacks’ founding motivations was to bring more women into sport. So, when Ringette Canada heard about SIRC’s Mom’s Got Game campaign, we knew right away it was a perfect fit.
When mom participates in sport, their kids are more likely to as well. And when the family supports mom on the ice? Well, that’s just a perfect way to bring everyone together.
Since 2022, we’ve offered complimentary event passes to the Canadian Ringette Championship to NRL moms playing or coaching in the event, for them to bring a caregiver to assist with childcare throughout the event, allowing them to focus on being their best.
Women report significant decreases in their physical activity levels after giving birth to their first child (McIntyre & Rhodes, 2009). Up to 75% of moms experience barriers to regular physical activity, including lack of time and social support, fatigue, childcare, and obligations to other roles (Verhoef & Love, 1992).
The research is clear – when mom participates in sports and physical activity, everybody wins! We’re proud to be part of the perception shift and to support Mom’s physical activity and sports participation.
