National Ringette League to add new team in 2025-26 season
Cochrane, AB– Ringette Canada and the National Ringette League announced league expansion today with the addition of the Rocky Mountain Rage, the first new team since 2021. The Rage will begin play in the 2025-26 season as the NRL’s 14th active franchise, and will compete in the West division.
The team will be based out of Cochrane, Alberta.
The Southern Alberta region has a strong and growing number of skilled athletes looking to compete at the high-performance level, in part due to the expansion of nationally competitive U19AA teams in Alberta over the past five years.
“We would like to congratulate the Rocky Mountain Rage on their successful application to join the National Ringette League,” said Shelley Coolidge, Ringette Canada’s Sport Director. “The expansion of the league in this area of Canada is testament to the incredible calibre of skill we’re seeing from athletes, and the Rage were a natural fit. The host organization has developed sound business and support partnerships to provide this group of High Performance Athletes with a quality daily training environment. We look forward to watching them compete in the League, as well as inspire and lead the future growth of high quality ringette in the region.”
“We are excited to join the National Ringette League (NRL) for the 2025/2026 season, where speed and skill collide to create the ultimate showcase of athleticism and competition,” said Jenn Rice, with the Organizing Committee of the Rocky Mountain Rage. “This is an incredible opportunity to provide athletes in southern Alberta with a platform to compete at the highest level. We look forward to partnering with Ringette Canada, our sister NRL franchises and our local communities to elevate our sport, inspire new generations of ringette athletes, and introduce even more fans to the fastest game on ice.”
The Rage will compete primarily at the SLS Centre in Cochrane, and will be associated with Zone 2 Blaze Ringette.
