Ringette Canada awards 2024 scholarships

Ringette Canada is delighted to announce the recipients of the 23rd annual Cara Brown Ringette Scholarship Award.

Receiving Cara Brown Ringette Scholarships are Trinity Roche (Souris, PEI) and Mikaela Stachon (Ottawa, ON).

Trinity Roche is a member of the PEI Wave, and played for the U19AA team this past season. She is furthering her education at the University of Prince Edward Island.

“Ringette has had a profound impact on my life, teaching me valuable lessons and shaping me into the person I am today,” Roche said. “Ringette has become such an integral part of my life that I can’t even imagine it without this incredible sport. I hope that young girls can find the same passion and drive in ringette, just like I did.”

Mikaela Stachon is a City of Ottawa Ringette Association member and played for the U19 Ottawa Ice this past season. She is furthering her education at Queen’s University.

“Ringette comes with significant benefits – fitness, teamwork and collaboration, time management, resilience and perseverance. These are all true of my ringette experience and so much more,” Said Stachon. “Most importantly volunteering in ringette has helped highlight my future path. Sharing the love I have for the sport and seeing faces light up when players finally ‘get it.’ These skills will serve me well as I embark on the next phase of my life studying Concurrent Education and Music with the goal of becoming a teacher.”

The Cara Brown Ringette Scholarship was created to honour Cara’s involvement in ringette and is awarded to a registered ringette player who is actively playing ringette at the elite level, who is entering a Canadian university on a full-time basis for the first time, who combines academic excellence and a minimum of a B average with a strong commitment to the sport of ringette. Recipients receive a $1000 scholarship towards post-secondary education.

Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients!
