SKATE WITH TEAM CANADA EVENT HELD PRIOR TO 2023 WORLD RINGETTE CHAMPIONSHIPS
CALGARY, AB–Local Calgary athletes were treated to a night of fun on the ice with Canadian ringette athletes from the Junior National Team, U18 National Development Program, and U17 La Relève.
Skate with Team Canada was held at WinSport on October 28, where nearly 200 local athletes took part in a skate and autograph session ahead of the 2023 World Ringette Championships. The event was sponsored by TeamSnap, the #1 Sports Team Management app.
“I had so much fun skating with the local athletes,” said Paige Roy, Junior National Team goaltender, who is from Calgary. “I’ve coached a lot of them in Calgary and it was great to have that experience, and have them get us pumped up for the World Championships.”
Participants included the Calgary Ringette for All athletes, a program that aims to increase the inclusivity of ringette. More information about their program can be found here.
Participants were excited about the opportunity to meet their favourite ringette players, and many new fans were made.
The World Ringette Championships kick off on October 29, and the full schedule and tickets can be found here. If you can’t make it to Calgary, you can stream the games from anywhere live on the Ringette Canada YouTube Channel from October 30 – November 4, 2023, or watch on the Telus Optik Channel 1999 in Alberta and BC.
